Why I Use Stainless Steel In The Kitchen

safer, smarter

Short and simply put, stainless steel is one of the most durable, versatile, and worry-free metals out there. Since transitioning all of my sons toys to non-toxic wood toys, I did extensive research on plastic and I'm continuing to completely eliminate it from my home. I can't believe I'm this person, but I am, and I'm proud! I'll get into aesthetics later (lol), but seriously, I aim to be plastic free and make my kitchen a "teflon free zone"- from cookware to storage.

The best part about my recent move was that I could transition easily by not even coming into my new apartment with everything I had in my old one. I donated the old and started with the new. Steel avoids a host of toxins like bisphenol-A and phthalates which
can leach into the foods that we end up putting into our bodies.

Here are some things you can switch from plastic to stainless steel right now:

cups
measuring cups
measuring spoons
bowls
cooking/mixing bowls
eating utensils
cooking utensils
mugs
cutlery
cheese grater
storage containers
to-go tumblers

Stainless steel doesn't soak up dangerous properties or transfer harsh chemicals. It also keeps cold cool and hot warm. To me, this isn't about a trend of how I'm doing it better than someone else. Its about being mindful and living much more consciously. This isn't only safer and smarter for us, but for the environment as well. And I can't even lie... its a lot more aesthetically pleasing than plastic could ever be.
